1) Product overview

The Ericsson Baseband 6648 is a high-capacity RAN Compute unit optimized for 4G LTE and 5G NR, supporting NR-only, LTE-only, or mixed NR+LTE operation. It provides switching, timing, traffic management, baseband processing and radio interconnect over CPRI/eCPRI. Ericsson positions 6648 as the strongest member of its RAN Compute family, delivering ~10–15 Gbit/s downlink capacity at the site level (reference figure).
